Dear
John,
Last night was another heavy-hearted, sleepless night in a year that's been full of them.
It's only been five weeks since the passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a warrior for equity and justice who fought for all of us until her final days and hours on this earth.
But we weren't even given time to grieve before having to combat right-wing maneuvering to replace her with someone who seems eager to roll back all the gains women have made.
We knew going into this fight that the math was not on our side and that Amy Coney Barrett would be on the Supreme Court by Election Day, but we were never going to sit this one out. And I want to personally thank you for being there with us every step of the way.
For Mitch McConnell, this sham confirmation was about abusing his power (while he still has it) to establish a de facto ceiling on progressive priorities and legislation for a generation.
Our job was to help Senate Judiciary Committee members give voice and visibility to the people who stand to lose health coverage with Amy Coney Barrett now as the deciding vote on the Affordable Care Act.
Yesterday, I discussed this work in detail with our board member and CEO of the National Democratic Convention Joe Solmonese, who was tapped early on to coordinate support for democratic members of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Make no mistake: the very real and dangerous consequences of a Trump-packed Supreme Court will be felt for years to come, but you can bet the National Partnership will never stop fighting for the nation RBG envisioned, where "equal justice for all" is finally real.
Thank you for being an essential part of this work, and for all that you do.
My best,
- Jessi Leigh
