This event continues an on-going, hotly-debated discussion of conservatism's proper role in defining our culture and nation.

Claremont has been proud to provide a platform for this important civic debate on our online publication, The American Mind.

After the release of Ahmari's initial controversial First Things essay, “Against David French-ism," we had a few provocations to add in a special feature for The American Mind, "Refounding the Right."

In the feature, Claremont Institute President Ryan P. Williams joins our editors in outlining a new American path. "The New Right must reassert a vision of justice rooted in the common good," writes Williams.

More recently, after a heated Ahmari-French debate at Catholic University last week, the distinguished Hadley Arkes weighes in on why the debate missed the point. In another post, Arkes moves the conversation forward by putting the question to David French about moral reasoning in action.

"This is the most important debate among social conservatives in recent years," writes Titus Techera in a newly-published piece on The American Mind. "We must hope that the next debate, to be held at Notre Dame with the happy addition of Charles Kesler, will show marked improvement so far as politics is concerned."

Meanwhile, Christina Pesavento argues that French is right to defend Liberalism—but Ahmari is right about how to preserve it.
