This is great news: My friend John Hickenlooper is leading in the polls in Colorado!

But here's the catch: We can't take anything for granted because this race is too important -- and Republicans won in 2014. We can't flip the Senate if John doesn't win in Colorado in 2020.

GOP super PACs -- including one controlled by Majority Leader Mitch McConnell -- are pouring more than $9 million into the Senate race in Colorado to stop John's momentum. This isn't about winning for the sake of winning. It's about leadership, and John has the kind of leadership experience we need in the Senate.

As governor of Colorado, John:

Moved Colorado from 40th in the nation in job creation to the number one economy in the country
Expanded Medicaid to more than 500,000 Colorodans
Spearheaded clean-energy legislation and took action to protect our public lands
