Sent to Your Top Election Official

Dear John,

As responsible business leaders, we are inspired to act and do everything we can to ensure that this coming election is not only fair and just, but peaceful, and with every vote counted. We invite you to join us by sending letters to our Secretaries of State and other elections officials in charge of elections at the state level urging actions for safe, fair, and just elections.

Here are the actions we are asking them to commit to:

  • Make a public announcement no later than October 25th committing that your office will not call election results until all mail-in ballots are counted.
  • Starting no later than November 1st, provide regular pre-election public updates on (a) the number of ballots already received via mail-in or early in-person voting processes, and (b) the percentage of mail-in ballots still outstanding;
  • Affirm that your efforts to prevent voter fraud has made it vanishingly rare, and pledge to uphold the professionalism and nonpartisan nature of our civic responsibilities
  • Take active steps to prevent political violence, voter intimidation, and illegal polling place activities, maintain safe voting environments, free from voter intimidation, and provide regular public updates on the measures in place;
  • Act swiftly to refute attempts by any media, candidate or party to unlawfully limit or prematurely conclude the counting of all ballots, including refuting announcements of loss of victory made prematurely before all eligible ballots are counted.
  • Pursue every available option to provide for a safe and secure early and absentee voting experience, including abiding by the US Election Assistance Commission’s best practices on ballot drop box administration and by endorsing the utility of ballot tracking technology.
