to raise our voices in support of welcome, dignity and freedom for all those
seeking safety. Join us for three events in the coming week: this Friday, please join us for a conversation with Dr. Jessica Goudeau about her new book After the Last Border: Two Families and the Story of Refuge in America . On Sunday, we will mark two years since the violent anti-Semitic and
anti-refugee attack in the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting. Next Tuesday, October
27th, join HIAS and JStreet for a conversation with Integrity First for America
about their organization’s landmark lawsuit against the hate groups responsible
for the Charlottesville attack and larger patterns of anti-Semitic and
anti-refugee hatred and violence.

new book After the Last Border: Two Families and the Story of Refuge in America . This important book is an intimate look at the lives of two women — Mu Naw, a
Christian from Myanmar, and Hasna, a Muslim from Syria — and their personal
stories are situated within the larger history of the evolution of modern
refugee resettlement in the U.S. Participants can read the book ahead of this
conversation and ask questions during the webinar; however, those who have not

synagogue shooting. We will seek to place the tragedy into a larger context at
the intersection of anti-Semitism, anti-immigrant hatred, white supremacy, and
the easy availability of guns in our culture, and we will call for action.

Uniting Against White Supremacy: A Conversation with Integrity First for America
and JStreet

In August 2017, hundreds of white supremacists and neo-Nazis invaded
Charlottesville, Virginia in a meticulously planned, racist conspiracy to cause
violence. Since that time, two deadly and unprecedented attacks against
synagogues have taken place in the U.S., fueled by a toxic combination of
anti-Semitism, racism, and anti-immigrant hate. Join Amy Spitalnick, Executive
Director from Integrity First for America, as she talks about her organization’s
landmark lawsuit against the neo-Nazi and white supremacist leaders and hate
groups responsible for the Charlottesville attack. The call will be moderated by Rabbi Rachel Grant Meyer, rabbi-in-residence from
HIAS, who will open by marking the passage of two years since the attack in
Pittsburgh and will moderate a conversation about larger patterns of
anti-Semitic and anti-refugee hatred.
