Dear Friend,

It seems like a long time ago that I was running for president. You’re receiving this letter because in some way you were part of the effort, something for which I will be forever grateful.

During the campaign, I promised that I would support the Democratic nominee whoever that person turned out to be – and I do. When I ended the campaign, I promised I would continue to speak out on the issues we had brought to the fore while it lasted - and I have.

During this past year, I hosted down-ballot candidates as part of a Progressive Candidate Summit. If you haven’t already checked it out, I hope you’ll do so now. See my interviews with the candidates, some of whom made it through their primaries and some of whom did not.

During these last weeks before the election, please consider supporting the candidates who are on the ballot in November. These wonderful people stand for many of the issues we talked about on my presidential campaign, all of which would fundamentally change the direction of our country.

Like you, I’ve been through a lot since we last communicated. First, I had to process my experiences of the campaign both positive and negative. And then of course, the pandemic hit and has shaken all of us to the core. I believe ultimately our country will be better for what we’ve been through. I’m not naïve about the dangers that imperil our democracy; anyone who knows the campaign I ran knows that. But running for president increased my faith in the dignity and decency of the American voter.

I come out of the experience of having run for president with deep gratitude for the lessons I learned, and a strong commitment to apply those lessons in ways that can further serve my country. I’m so grateful for your support in the past, and I hope I earned your interest in hearing about any plans I have for the future.

What I need to do now is to pay off the rest of my campaign debt, which is approximately $168,000. In order to do that, I’ve asked some of my great women friends and colleagues to join me in teaching a day-and-half seminar called Women’s Wisdom in Times of Crisis. It will be an inspiring event that uplifts all of us – yes, men you’re invited too! – so we can best show up for the world at this challenging time.

Again, my deepest thanks to you for having joined with me in the ride of a lifetime. All of us know that as Americans we’re experiencing a difficult time now, but we’re experiencing it together. I promise I will continue to do whatever I can to help us brave the storm.
