BREAKING: We are calling for Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s removal as lead democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee!

Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s behavior during Amy Coney Barrett’s Supreme Court confirmation hearings was unacceptable. She praised Lindsey “I don’t have COVID-19” Graham on his leadership during what she called the “best set of hearings” she’s participated in. She normalized the process and she failed to fight back against Republican theft of a Supreme Court seat.

Our rights and our democracy are under attack. We need leaders who are ready to fight for us. Sen. Feinstein isn’t that leader right now. Which is why she must step down as the leader of the Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee. If she won’t, her colleagues need to intervene.

Sen. Feinstein didn’t stand up for us. She normalized this confirmation process by meeting with Barrett and treating the hearing as business as usual, and she undercut Democrats who were trying to fight back by opposing common sense steps like filibuster reform and Court reform.

Then, the cherry on top: she actually thanked the Republicans for a hearing where they are ramming through a nominee who will threaten our rights and our democracy.

If Senate Democrats are going to tackle the enormous challenge of Donald Trump’s hijacking of our federal courts, they cannot be led by someone who treats Sunrise activists with contempt and the Republican theft of a Supreme Court seat with kid gloves.

That is why I’m asking -- will you sign our petition to put pressure on Sen. Feinstein to step down from her leadership position on the Senate Judiciary Committee? We have no other option if we want to fight back against the Republican hijacking of our courts.

Folks, a lot is at stake right now. Too much is on the line for Democrats to be led by someone who isn’t prepared to meet the moment.
