Dear NRDC Action Fund Activist,
This is the most important election of my lifetime, hands down.
It is not just our chance to elect a new president and shift the balance of power in Congress — although those two things are incredibly important. It's our chance to vote for the return of sane, effective leadership.
We're voting for the return of trust in science and belief in facts. We're voting for lawmakers who will work to solve our biggest problems — like the pandemic, the climate crisis, and centuries of racial injustice — by bringing us together, rather than creating new problems by dividing us.
That is what we can expect from Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Their climate action proposal is the most ambitious we have seen from any president in U.S. history — EVER. It will help us avoid the worst impacts of the climate crisis, advance racial justice and equity, improve the health of people across the country, rebuild our economy from the hit it has taken in this pandemic, and put millions of people to work in clean energy.
But after all these months of campaigning, the outcome of this election and our ability to fight the climate crisis in the next four years all comes down to who actually turns out to vote.
That's why we at the NRDC Action Fund are doing everything we can to get as many people as possible to make their voices heard and their votes count, starting with our largest-ever digital get-out-the-vote campaign yet.
Please make a donation to push our get-out-the-vote operation over the finish line — and end the Trump administration's assaults on our environment once and for all.
This campaign is so critical that your gift will be matched, dollar for dollar — up to $120,000 — and go twice as far to turn out green voters and usher in a new era of climate champions in Washington.
The stakes couldn't be higher. We're grappling with multiple crises all at once: a pandemic that has taken 200,000 lives and counting, an epidemic of racial violence at the hands of law enforcement that our president has failed to address despite massive, widespread public outcry, devastating job losses, and the climate crisis — a steroid that makes it all harder to tackle.
Over the past few months, wildfires have been laying waste to large swaths of the western U.S., and tropical storms and hurricanes are destroying homes and entire communities across the Southeast. Scientists warn we could reach the worst-case scenario for global warming sooner than expected.
That's why we've doubled down on our efforts to block the ongoing assaults on the environment and our health from the Trump administration and his allies in Congress, which continue even as the election approaches.
At the same time, we're keeping climate at the forefront of the conversation on the campaign trail. And we're mobilizing volunteers to text voters in key states and districts urging them to take advantage of early voting or vote on Election Day. Volunteers have already texted over a million voters, and they plan to text a million more before Election Day.
It's some of the most important work we can be doing right now for our democracy — but how many people we can reach depends on support from people like you.
Please consider donating to help turn out pro-environment voters and do all we can to bring America back from the brink of climate catastrophe.
I've been fighting for action on climate change for decades, so I can tell you that right now, we're living in an incredible time. I've never in my lifetime seen greater enthusiasm for voting — and for changing things by voting — than I do at this moment. And young activists in particular are really leading the way, pushing people — including lawmakers many years their elder — into taking action.
These developments give me a lot of hope for our future. I hope you'll join me in doing your part to stand up for the better world we all deserve.
Together, we are an unstoppable force for good.
Sincerely,

Gina McCarthy
