Run for Something
Hi John!

October's looking as good as ever with these incredible Run for Something events. This is a long email, but it's worth your time if you can spare it.

With only 21 days left until polls close, right now is the perfect time for you to get engaged and help Run for Something candidates win power that carries into 2021 and beyond.

Check it out:

Unapologetically Progressive in Pennsylvania
Tonight at 8 p.m. ET

Tonight we're sitting down with Shanna Danielson (candidate PA state Senate), Rep. Sara Innamorato (PA-HD21), Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta (PA-HD181), and Rick Krajewski (candidate for state House) to talk about their efforts to secure sustainable, permanent power in the swing state.

Quick reminder, in 2016, Secretary Clinton lost Pennsylvania by just .71% points. If you didn't know already: Every. Vote. Counts.

Our endorsed candidates' organizing could be the difference-maker for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. They're building strong relationships with their local communities and showing that Democrats will be there whether you live in West Philly or Beaver Falls (yes, we have candidates running in both places).

RSVP now to join us for tonight's (free!) episode of Unapologetically Progressive and learn how YOU can help our young progressive candidates win a Pennsylvania for everyone.

Run for Something (The Podcast)
New Episodes every Tuesday

In this week's episode, we'll be sitting down to talk with Gabby Salinas, a candidate for the Tennessee state House.

Gabby came to the United States from Bolivia when she was diagnosed with cancer as a child.

In Memphis, she found a new home. The community took her family in and cared for her -- and then showed itself to be even more welcoming and compassionate when Gabby's father and sister died in a car crash that also paralyzed her pregnant mother. A few years later, Gabby was diagnosed with a new type of cancer, which came back again just before she went off to college.

Gabby kept fighting, became a scientist, a candidate for state legislature in Tennessee, and a fierce advocate for the kind of health care that saved her life many times over.

This is a story of hardship and triumph that you'll want to hear.

Unapologetically Progressive in Florida
October 20th at 8 p.m. ET

Ignore everything you've heard about Florida becoming a safe state for Republicans.

In the 2018 midterms, Floridians voted overwhelmingly for a constitutional amendment restoring voting rights to persons charged with felonies after completing their sentences. Amendment 4 ended the disenfranchisement of hundreds of thousands of people, who were disproportionately Black and brown (thanks to our broken justice system).

This was huge news, and it tells us something important about Floridians. Residents of the Sunshine State care deeply about our democratic values, and they want their neighbors' rights (like access to the ballot box) protected.

But state Republican leaders couldn't stomach the idea of fair and free elections (or for that matter, the will of their constituents) because they know if more people vote, Republicans lose. They passed a modern-day poll tax, stipulating that before voting rights can be restored to previously incarcerated people, fines and legal fees must be paid.

This is the kind of thing that can be prevented by electing young diverse progressives to down-ballot races in swing states.

And on October 20th, we'll learn how we can help make that happen. RSVP now to hear how you can help our endorsed candidates win sustainable, permanent power in Florida.

House Party with Run for Something
October 27th at 8 p.m. ET

Our last event before polls close! (Probably!)

We'll be returning to the core of Run for Something's mission: The importance of local politics in winning sustainable, progressive power nationwide.

After the dust settles and we learn who will lead our nation through a pivotal moment in global history, Run for Something's work goes on regardless of the outcome.

We will NEVER stop working to recruit, train, support, and elect young, diverse progressives to down-ballot seats nationwide. Because if we do, some people in our party might let state and local power fall by the wayside, which -- for the sake of the future of our democracy and promise of progress -- can never be allowed to happen.

Want to learn why? Buy a ticket to our House Party on October 27th and hear from me and RFS candidates who're running in 2020 and beyond. Tickets start at just $25.

Do NOT miss out on these opportunities. I know we're all living through a difficult period in our history, but progress cannot be put on the back burner, and progress won't come at all without people like you joining the fight.

Thanks for checking in,
