North Carolina Republicans have made their nominations for the state's special master to help oversee the redrawing of legislative districts, and every Democrat should be scared.

Art Pope – who played a pivotal role in gerrymandering the maps in the GOP's favor back in 2011 – was just revealed as one of the GOP's nominees. Pope is the billionaire behind REDMAP, a notorious right-wing project that helped secure Republican power over the last decade, and now Republicans are pushing for him to take control of the legislative maps once more.

Democrats simply can't let this go unchecked. There is too much on the line. Whoever redraws the maps will be able to shift the political landscape in this crucial swing state for the next 10 years.

Despite a massive turnout of Democratic voters in the state last year, Republicans were able to cling to power in North Carolina. And that will continue to happen for years to come if we don't fight back NOW.

State Democrats are working their hearts out to beat the odds and take back control of states like North Carolina ahead of the critical redistricting process. Unless we want Republicans to cruise by and empower billionaires like Art Pope to rig the maps even further, we NEED to step up and have state Democrats' backs.
