The CDC was once a crown jewel of American science and a proud institution of Atlanta. But the current administration has turned it into a political weapon to keep Americans scared and in the dark before the November election. This is a disservice to us and many countries around the world.

A functioning democracy is based on truth and facts. When it comes to the dismantling of democracy, team, the buck has to stop with us.

Sadly, too many Republicans in positions of influence across the state are willing to watch as the credibility of this great agency withers and dies in the midst of a pandemic to appease one man. Georgia is the political epicenter of the United States. We have a lot of work to do if we want to protect our most vulnerable from a system so broken that it diminishes the institutions created to keep us safe. It starts with electing the right candidates who have everyone’s best interests at heart, not just their own.
