Dear John, As you know, President Donald Trump nominated Judge Amy Coney Barrett to fill the vacancy left by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the U.S. Supreme Court. Barrett currently serves as a circuit judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit. Trump’s judicial pick is a true American patriot and is known among evangelical, conservative Christians as a respected woman of faith.
Earlier, AFA Action called for you to reach out to your senator to take action and urge him or her to confirm Barrett to the Supreme Court. And you did just that. With your help, we have seen 62,000 responses to this call to action from all 50 states. But there is more work to do!
This week, Barrett is scheduled to go before the Senate Judiciary Committee for her confirmation hearing. As we have learned with past nominees, the confirmation process will be intense. In Barrett's confirmation to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit, Sen. Diane Feinstein attacked Barrett's religious faith by stating: Why is it that so many of us on this side have this very uncomfortable feeling that, you know, dogma and law are two different things, and I think whatever religion is, it has its own dogma. The law is totally different, and I think in your case, Professor, when I read your speeches, the conclusion one draws is that the dogma lives loudly within you. Will you join with us in praying for Barrett, her family, and for AFA Action as we continue to stand firm against those who will fight the confirmation of Judge Barrett?
I am personally taking the voice of AFA Action to Washington, D.C., this week to support the confirmation of Barrett. I will be taking part in a time of prayer at the front steps of the U.S. Supreme Court where I will intercede on behalf of our nation and for the protection and confirmation of Barrett. Also, I will be delivering a letter and petition to Senate Judiciary Chairman Lindsay Graham (R-SC) urging him to keep Senate Democrats from attacking Barrett’s freedom of religious expression.
