What lessons do Americans see for humanity in the coronavirus pandemic? We asked people to describe their takeaways, and a new essay looks at a sampling of responses – including many presented exactly as respondents wrote them. Some see religious significance, while others cite lessons in society’s failure to tackle problems like racism, economic inequality and climate change.
