John, millions of Americans have fought to preserve the freedoms Donald Trump threatens.
Now it's our turn.
We are confronting a betrayal of American values unlike anything we’ve seen in our nation's history.
Instead of leading the charge against hatred, we have a president who deliberately incites violence, stokes fires of anger and hostility, and maliciously attacks our institutions—including our free and fair elections.
No chapter in America’s story is without its share of hate groups and extremists fermenting fear, inciting racism, and even committing horrific acts in the name of twisted and un-American ideologies.
But throughout our nation’s many tribulations, the good in us has always prevailed. Honor, civility, decency, and our democracy writ large have weathered attacks and threats from enemies, foreign and domestic.
However, the fight to defend these ideals has always been championed by our country's president. In this, a time of unprecedented crisis and calamity, our Commander-in-Chief is fighting for the wrong side.
Our president’s most animated supporters are in the company of the Ku Klux Klan, Proud Boys, and other hateful white supremacist groups he refuses to denounce, and in fact, enjoys. The likes of David Duke and Richard Spencer aren’t hangers-on; Trump and Trumpism are inextricably linked with the dangerous fringes of the far-right.
Trump’s alliances with these scum are an offense to the moral character of the American patriots who will determine the outcome of this election.
