The United States is in the midst of battling the opioid epidemic.
Despite widespread expansion of medical and recreational marijuana programs across the country over the past 1-2 decades, the opioid crisis persists. The primary reason marijuana is recommended or used for medicinal purposes is for a pain condition. An additional complication is that in recreational marijuana states, patients are now self-diagnosing and treating their own or family members medical conditions with marijuana.
The evidence of how cannabinoids potentially work for pain and interact with the opioid system will be discussed and an explanation as to why marijuana will not help the opioid epidemic will also be described.
Webinar learning objectives:
