Over 3,500 public healthcare
workers are set to begin a five-day strike on Wed., Oct. 7. DSA will
be on picket lines at 8 public hospitals and clinics, standing
shoulder-to-shoulder with these brave workers who are putting it all
on the line to win a fully-funded, democratically run healthcare
system.
This past Sunday almost 100
unionists, AHS patients, and democratic socialists joined our
AHS Strike Readiness Community
Assembly. We heard shocking stories of the mismanagement that runs
rampant in our public health system. The cause? Privatization,
austerity and absolute disregard for human life by management.
Rank-and-file leaders from SEIU Local 1021 and the California Nurses
Association have had enough. They shared inspiring tales of deep
organizing, compassion, and solidarity, all in the service of caring
for our communities.
