Sunday, October 4, 2020 Chairman’s Report Dear John, While New York State is facing a $14.5 billion deficit, it’s important to point out that over $6 billion of that existed before anyone knew the word coronavirus. Because of the terrible management of our state, New York is now in an even deeper hole. Governor Cuomo has run this state into the ground, but the Democrat-controlled State Legislature is also to blame. They handed the Governor unchecked dictatorial powers and then abandoned their constitutional duties as a co-equal branch of government. They dodged their responsibilities and then they went missing in action. The Senate and Assembly Democrats also turned their backs on our police officers and are the ones responsible for the failed bail reform law that allows criminals to walk away to commit more crimes. We are less than five weeks away from a critical election for New York State. The Democrats who control the NYS Legislature have failed us and New Yorkers must send them a message. We need to support candidates that are willing to fight for the safety of our law enforcement and the communities we live in -- as well as for our economic recovery. On this week’s video town hall, I was pleased to chat with three strong candidates who are all running for office in the New York State Assembly -- Dave Catalfamo, Jodi Giglio and Patricia Canzoneri-Fitzpatrick. They are leading the way by campaigning on how smart, Republican policies will rebuild our economy, restore public safety and security and create a bright future for New York. We're proud to have them representing the NYGOP in their races this year and we are thrilled they joined us to share their insights, updates on their campaigns, and to take your questions. If you were unable to attend, I encourage you to watch the town hall below. Lastly, I ask that you join me in prayer for the swift recovery of our President, First Lady, and everyone who has tested positive for COVID-19 this week.
