Revak Report
Dear Friends,

Hard to believe October 2020 is here – where did the time go. Our children are back to school, albeit attending virtual learning sessions, and we are adjusting to the reality that COVID-19 has changed the way we conduct our daily lives. I am sure most of you, like our family, want to put COVID-19 behind us and return to life as we know it. Until that happens I hope all of you have been able to remain healthy during these unprecedented times.

As always, I'm honored to serve and represent Senate District M. Please email me (mailto:[email protected]) , call my office at 907-269-0222, or visit us anytime to share you thoughts and concerns.
Blessings,

Honoring Specialist Garcia for Community Service

Members of the Joint Armed Services Committee honored U.S. Army Specialist Andrew Garcia for his artistic contributions made to the Fairview neighborhood in Anchorage, Alaska. The beautiful mural painted at 10th and Hyder depicts the wonders of Alaska and provides a positive and inspirational message for all.

Many Fairview residents were frustrated with constantly having to clean the inappropriate graffiti on the retaining wall in their neighborhood and were looking for an artist to paint a mural in the hopes of deterring the graffiti. Upon recommendation the residents reached out to Spc. Garcia for help. Garcia enthusiastically jumped at the opportunity, recruited friends and several other artists to join in this endeavor.

Over the next eleven days Garcia spent weekends and available time after work as a “rigger” for the 241^st Quartermaster Company at JBER transforming the graffiti wall into a beautiful work of art. He sacrificed his spare time to not only enhance the Fairview community but to share his inspirational and positive message for the many young people and children living in the neighborhood.

Artworks Day in Anchorage October 3rd

Art is a vital part of my life. My guitar and music carried me through some tough times in combat. I’d encourage everyone to take up some form of artistic expression as a hobby in celebration of Artworks Day in Anchorage.
