Hey, it’s Jamilla!

My dad was on MSNBC again last night, this time talking about his amazing rise in the polls on The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell . It’s all thanks to the surge of grassroots support we’ve seen here in Mississippi and across the country. [[link removed]]

I’ve been a proud daughter throughout this campaign, but it’s always special getting to watch my dad, and for my son to watch his “GP,” on national television talking about our historic campaign.

When Lawrence asked my dad why he believes we’re now just one point behind Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith in the polls, my dad laid out three key things:

1.
Mississippians
are
tired
of
being
last
and
tired
of
having
less.
For
too
long,
our
state
has
been
last
in
education,
health
care,
and
job
opportunities,
and
frankly
we’re
just
tired
of
it.

2.
Our
opponent
is
uniquely
awful.
Senator
Hyde-Smith
is
against
the
Affordable
Care
Act,
supports
cutting
coverage
for
people
with
pre-existing
conditions,
and
is
doing
nothing
to
stop
hospital
closures
in
our
rural
communities.
And
we’ll
never
forget
when
she
put
on
a
Confederate
military
uniform
and
called
the
Confederacy
“Mississippi
history
at
its
best.”

3.
We
ran
then
to
win
now.
When
my
dad
ran
against
Hyde-Smith
in
2018,
he
made
history
by
getting
47%
of
the
vote
and
coming
closer
to
winning
a
U.S.
Senate
seat
than
any
other
Democrat
in
the
state
since
1982.
This
year,
we
have
more
time
and
resources.
And
with
more
Black
voters
per
capita
than
any
other
state,
we’re
building
a
diverse
coalition
of
supporters
all
over
Mississippi.

No matter what you call him — Mike, dad, or “GP” — I know Mike Espy is the right candidate for the job. We just need to keep up the momentum and build the grassroots resources to Get Out the Vote in these last few weeks.

With only 32 days left before Election Day, can you pitch in $10 or whatever’s in your budget to keep up this energy and elect my dad, Mike Espy, to the Senate on November 3? [[link removed]]

This is our chance to make history and give Mississippi a leader who I know deep in my heart will fight for this state he loves so much.

P.S. Check out this photo I dug up of me and my brother, Mikey, campaigning for dad in the 80s. Our campaign logo is much different today, but our love for Mississippi is the same. Running a campaign is truly a family affair, and I’m so glad you’re a part of it.
