Tell Trump and the EPA not to Give a Free Pass to the Oil and Gas Industry
to Pollute Our Air — ACT NOW

Help stop the EPA from gutting rules that prevent fossil fuel companies
from unnecessarily spewing massive amounts of climate-busting methane gas!

Dear NRDC Activist,
Scientists warn that climate change will only get worse unless we
drastically cut back on all climate-warming pollutants by 2050. But
President Trump and his EPA continue to do all they can to let every major
climate-polluting industry off scot-free.
Last week, Trump's EPA announced plans to repeal critical regulations that
keep the oil and gas industry from leaking dangerous methane gas into the
atmosphere.
Methane is the second-biggest driver of climate change after carbon
dioxide, trapping more than 80 times as much heat in the atmosphere,
pound-for-pound, as CO2. And the oil and gas industry is the largest
industrial source of methane emissions — spewing hundreds of thousands of
tons of the climate-busting gas into our air each year.
Trump's attempt to weaken methane protections is a blatant giveaway to his
fossil fuel allies at the expense of the American people, clean air, our
health, and the future of our planet. And NRDC is prepared to head to
federal court — yet again, if necessary — to stop these reckless and
sinister rollback.
But for now, the EPA has to accept and respond to public comments on this
dangerous rollback, so today, we need to register our protest:
[ [link removed] ]Stand with NRDC — send in your official public comment opposing Trump's
reckless rollback of critical regulations for climate-warming methane
pollution from the oil and gas industry.
Americans overwhelmingly support federal efforts to cut methane pollution.
Even some of the largest oil and gas companies have admitted that they can
live with strong methane regulations on the books.
Yet Trump's EPA has already tried THREE times to roll back methane
regulations — so far unsuccessfully. Now, EPA chief and former fossil fuel
lobbyist Andrew Wheeler has unveiled the fourth and most sweeping
proposal: To entirely repeal the methane limits already in place for new
oil and gas sources and to give existing operations a permanent pass.
This comes on the heels of the Trump administration's many other attacks
on bedrock climate regulations and protections against air pollution —
such as the landmark Clean Power Plan and lifesaving clean car
standards... and it's all for polluter profit.
In short, if Trump's lieutenants at the EPA succeed, we will be left with
do-nothing standards for power plants and vehicles, no limits at all on
methane from oil and gas, and new hurdles for curbing climate pollution
from other industries.
This, of course, runs counter to everything we have learned about avoiding
climate catastrophe.
[ [link removed] ]Take action NOW: tell Trump and his EPA polluter-in-chief Andrew
Wheeler that you'll do everything in your power to stop them from
destroying our climate, our planet, and our environment with their latest
reckless pro-polluter-profit scheme.
With your support, NRDC has held the line against Trump's unlawful
dismantling of commonsense protections for public health and the natural
world — filing close to 100 lawsuits against such actions. So far, we've
won more than 90 percent of them. You have made that possible, and I am
confident that, with you standing with us, we will prevail in fighting
this latest outrage. [ [link removed] ]Please, send your message of opposition today.
Sincerely,
