Hey, it’s Jamilla again. Did you catch my dad, Mike Espy, on MSNBC last night?

I reach out every time my dad is on cable TV, because it’s always surreal seeing your own father on MSNBC. My 3-year-old son, Ryan, and I always watch the segments together. I love seeing the look in my son’s eyes when he sees his “GP” on the screen.

This time, “GP” was on PoliticsNation with the one and only Reverend Al Sharpton. The Reverend and my dad talked about how we’re just one point down in our campaign for a more welcoming Mississippi.

As my dad pointed out, “Poor has no race, and poverty has no color. So if you look at the lowest level of the economic strata, you'll focus on a lot of African-Americans. But you'll also find a lot of poor whites.”

Here in Mississippi, poverty and lack of access to affordable health care, education, and economic opportunity impacts far too many folks, regardless of race. Which is why my dad is trying to move Mississippi forward for every Mississippian.

Today, we’re just two days away from our campaign’s most important fundraising deadline yet , and if we’re going to defeat Cindy Hyde-Smith and send my dad to fight for every Mississippian in Washington, we’ve got to keep putting up big numbers between now and November 3.

So, will you help my dad, Mike Espy, build a more inclusive, more diverse, and more welcoming Mississippi by pitching in $10 or more to our campaign before our September 30 deadline? [[link removed]]

Together, we can give Mississippi a leader who will not only address racial disparity, but work to reduce the economic disparity that affects so many across the state.

And I know my dad — and Ryan’s “GP” — will get the job done.

Thanks for all you do for our campaign.
