The bill to end the sale of flavored tobacco products in D.C. hasn't moved for months. Councilmember Charles Allen – who supports the bill – chairs the Judiciary and Public Safety Committee, which has jurisdiction over the bill. It's up to him when the bill gets marked up.

Councilmember Allen needs to know this is a priority:

The time is now to end the sale of ALL flavored tobacco products in the District.

The events of 2020 have shined a light on the vast health inequities that exist here. For decades, Big Tobacco has preyed upon Black residents and hooked them with menthol flavored products. As a result, Black residents are 3x more likely to use tobacco products, making them more vulnerable to cancer, heart disease, stroke, lung diseases, diabetes, and COPD.

Big Tobacco is also finding new ways to hook our kids. The latest CDC data shows that use of disposable e-cigarettes increased 1,000% among high school students and 400% among middle school students in the last year.

Send a message to Councilmember Allen asking him to advance the bill to stop flavored tobacco without further delay.
