Hello my name is Sarah Lane and I work for Senator Merkley's campaign.

Two years ago today, the world heard Christine Blasey Ford's heart wrenching testimony against Brett Kavanaugh in the Senate Judiciary Committee.

I'll never forget how I felt in the days leading up to the confirmation vote. Senators on both sides of the aisle knew that Christine Blasey Ford's allegations of sexual assault were credible, yet Republicans voted to confirm Kavanaugh anyway.

Now, members of the Senate Judiciary Committee are poised to do it again--jam through a Supreme Court pick by Donald Trump in an election year, despite repeated promises never to do that.

Two years ago, Jeff Merkley fought for us with everything he had.

Jeff filed a court injunction to try and halt the confirmation, and he pressured other Senators to do the right thing. And the night before the Senate voted to confirm Kavanaugh, Jeff went to the Senate floor at 3:45 in the morning to read letters from sexual assault survivors.

For hours, Jeff spoke to an empty Senate chamber reading letters he received from survivors. Jeff wanted to make sure their stories would be included in the official congressional record. Jeff wanted their voices to be heard, even if other senators didn't think it was important.

Now, Jeff is fighting again. He's giving it everything he's got.

I don't know how this fight will turn out, but I do know this: If we are going to have any chance at all, we have to win back the Senate in the next 37 days.

There are four members of the Senate Judiciary Committee in close races this year--and Senator Merkley is supporting their opponents: Jaime Harrison in South Carolina, Theresa Greenfield in Iowa, MJ Hegar in Texas, and Cal Cunningham in North Carolina.

Will you pitch in a few dollars right now to help us win these races and give us a shot at winning this fight?

I'm proud to be able to work for Jeff Merkley. He never gives up, and he never gives in. We could sure use more Jeff Merkleys in the Senate.

Sarah
