We urgently need reform.

Julie Oliver for Congress

Team, I'm losing count of how many times I've been angry this week.

Earlier this afternoon in Louisville, Kentucky, it was announced that only one of the three police officers involved in the shooting and killing of Breonna Taylor will be charged.

And that one officer charged was given a bail set at only $15,000 — meaning that all three officers will walk free tonight.

In denying accountability for the officers who killed Breonna Taylor as she slept in her own home, in saying that violence was "justified," the Kentucky Attorney General has committed a travesty of justice.

There must be a full review of the grand jury evidence so that the public can see how this decision was made. And then, we urgently need reform. Because until we acknowledge that our criminal justice system is deeply broken and unequal, it will not achieve justice. Instead, it will only exacerbate injustice.

Today, we will continue to lift Breonna and her family up. And tomorrow, we will honor her life by continuing the fight for real justice. To start, will you join me in splitting a donation to three Texas groups fighting for justice in our communities?

With love,

Julie
