Folks –
While many of us are still reeling from and mourning the death of the legendary Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Senate Leader McConnell is moving full-speed ahead to confirm another Trump Supreme Court Justice with just 43 days until the election.
First, RBG’s dying request was made known: “My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed.”
Then, mere hours after the news of RBG’s passing broke, McConnell said: "President Trump's nominee will receive a vote on the floor of the United States Senate.”
Now, we have to fight back. Nothing short of everything is on the line this November.
Can you add your name to this petition to demand the Senate wait to vote on the next Supreme Court Justice until after the American people have had a chance to weigh in this November?
In 2016, McConnell insisted that Barack Obama’s nomination to the Court be held up because "The American people should have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court Justice.”
Well, Mitch – we agree! With just 43 days until Election Day, there is no reason – beyond pure hypocrisy – to rush through a Supreme Court nomination.
After all, the Senate has enough on its plate: Additional coronavirus relief for the American people, small businesses, and states and local governments is still in the McConnell Graveyard! The HEROES Act would give badly needed support to help Americans continue to weather the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mitch McConnell cannot push through another Justice until we inaugurate a new President. The American people deserve a voice on this – and the Senate has important work to do at this moment!
With the future of the Affordable Care Act, Roe, and more on the line, can you sign on to demand the Senate wait to confirm a new Supreme Court justice?
Thanks,
– David
