The 1619 Project, launched by The New York Times in 2019, is an attempt to =
reframe America=E2=80=99s history around the institution of slavery. Some o=
f its claims include:

America=E2=80=99s true founding was not in 1776 but rather in 1619, the yea=
r the first slaves landed on this country=E2=80=99s shores.
The Founders=E2=80=99 real reason for fighting for independence from Great =
Britain was to preserve slaveholding.
American capitalism was developed from and modeled on plantation slavery.

These claims and many others made by The 1619 Project have been contested a=
nd debunked by numerous historians across the political spectrum. Neverthel=
ess, The 1619 Project is now being taught in more than 3,500 classrooms and=
five urban public school systems nationwide.

This shoddy, ideologically biased content should be nowhere near our childr=
en=E2=80=99s history classes.

Fortunately, Senator Tom Cotton has introduced legislation that would prohi=
bit the use of federal funds to teach the 1619 Project in K-12 schools =E2=
=80=94 and now President Trump has said he=E2=80=99ll strip schools of fede=
ral funds if they want to teach this curriculum. But we need to ensure our =
leaders have the support they need to fight back!=20

Lawmakers across the U.S. must join President Trump and Senator Cotton to e=
nsure The 1619 Project is kept out of our schools, and we need your financi=
al help to make sure other leaders hear our voices.

The 1619 Project, launched by The New York Times in 2019, is an attempt to reframe America’s history around the institution of slavery. Some of its claims include:

America’s true founding was not in 1776 but rather in 1619, the year the first slaves landed on this country’s shores.
The Founders’ real reason for fighting for independence from Great Britain was to preserve slaveholding.
American capitalism was developed from and modeled on plantation slavery.

These claims and many others made by The 1619 Project have been contested and debunked by numerous historians across the political spectrum. Nevertheless, The 1619 Project is now being taught in more than 3,500 classrooms and five urban public school systems nationwide.

This shoddy, ideologically biased content should be nowhere near our children’s history classes.

Fortunately, Senator Tom Cotton has introduced legislation that would prohibit the use of federal funds to teach the 1619 Project in K-12 schools — and now President Trump has said he’ll strip schools of federal funds if they want to teach this curriculum. But we need to ensure our leaders have the support they need to fight back!

Lawmakers across the U.S. must join President Trump and Senator Cotton to ensure The 1619 Project is kept out of our schools, and we need your financial help to make sure other leaders hear our voices.
