Associated Press: "NRA Backs Republican in New Mexico Race for U.S. Senate"

BREAKING NEWS: The National Rifle Association endorsed the Republican candidate running to take my place in the Senate.

The NRA wants to take back this critical blue seat to keep blocking progress in the Senate and they know my friend Ben Ray Luján is a champion for common-sense gun-safety legislation. That's why the NRA gave Ben Ray an F rating.

Special-interest groups like the NRA want to turn New Mexico red. Ben Ray isn't taking any corporate PAC money and needs our grassroots support to make sure they don't succeed. If you can, please split a contribution between Ben Ray's campaign and the Southwest Leadership Fund today.

Ben Ray worked hard to advance a measure in the House that would expand background checks on all gun sales and prevent future violence in our communities, but it's being blocked in the Senate by Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

We need to take back the Senate Majority to remove McConnell from power so we can take action on important issues like gun violence, and that means we need to defend every blue seat in the Senate -- including mine.

Right now, Ben Ray has a lead in the polls, but his opponent and President Trump are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to turn New Mexico red. Ben Ray is counting on grassroots support to keep building momentum for his campaign and combat the outside spending.

I know from experience how difficult this race can be, and that's why I want to help out Ben Ray as much as possible between now and November. So if you can, please split a contribution between Ben Ray's campaign and the SLF.

Cheers,

Tom
