Georgia is once again the epicenter of the political universe. Not only has Georgia finally achieved swing state status and become one of the most powerful states in the race for the White House, but because of this year's special election we have the power to shape the entire U.S. Senate. And with the power to shape the Senate comes the power to define the Supreme Court, the power to define American Justice itself , for a generation. The fate of the entire country is in our hands, but what else is new? This is the birthplace of the civil rights movement, the capitol of hip hop, the home of the superhero blockbuster. And this November, when we send Donald Trump packing, we’re going to show the entire country the same is true in politics: As Georgia goes, so goes the nation.

But Friends, it’s about more than the races at the top of the ballot.

With your help , we can win the Georgia State House, so the Republicans can’t continue their gerrymandered stranglehold on our state. And that is one of the main reasons we are launching an exciting new organization of devoted democrats and civil rights soldiers—the Georgia Blue Project.

It is imperative that we flip Georgia and the Georgia Blue Project is how we’re going to do it. Friends, donating $26—a dollar for each State House seat we are targeting—or whatever you can afford today will be invaluable in funding the outreach we need to increase turnout among the communities of color, Independent women and youth whose votes will be decisive in our elections this year. When I ran for U.S. Senate, you were there. My motivation wasn’t only for the opportunity to represent hard working Georgians and their families in Washington. It was also my commitment to building a lasting movement for change across Georgia.

That’s why I’m honored to be joined in this amazing new effort to flip Georgia through the Georgia Blue Project by Judge Glenda Hatchett; Atlanta City Councilman Amir Farokhi; celebrated civil rights attorney Gerald Griggs; former Attorney General candidate Charlie Bailey; and former GA NAACP President and head of New Georgia Project. These are the respected, committed Georgians who have joined me in this cause. The stakes are simply too high for us to sit on the sidelines and not leave everything we’ve got on the playing field. We cannot wake up on November 4th to four more years of Donald Trump.

We must end the lingering effects of the racist and divisive Southern Strategy in Georgia. Donald Trump only won Georgia by 5 points in 2016—and we all know that there is a high likelihood that Stacey Abrams would be our governor today if it wasn’t for the insidious voter purges and suppression we’ve experienced. Since then, over 1.1 million new voters have been added to the voter rolls. We have reached the tipping point—and we are determined to give Georgia a final, decisive push to victory.

Friends, the past four years of Donald Trump and his Republican enablers have been rough. We have lost 200,000 lives to Donald Trump’s willful mismanagement of the coronavirus pandemic. Our economy is devastated, and still, social justice eludes too many. Black Americans are murdered in the streets by vigilantes, shot in their beds because of “no-knock” warrants, and shot in the back by rogue law enforcement officers sworn to protect us. We have witnessed our very democracy dismantled. We must elect people who insist on solutions. We can change this in 2020.

But we can turn our country and our state around. Please stand with us and support the Georgia Blue Project today.
