Yesterday, we made 729 calls to newly registered and sporadic voters in south King County - let's aim for 771 next week for a total of 1500 calls! We can only reach that goal if you help us!

Why are we doing this work?
Think that just because King County is "solidly blue" that means your vote (and the votes of everyone else in King County) don't matter? Our votes are actually extremely important for statewide races such as the Secretary of State election! We're also aiming to turn out votes in crucial districts where we need to either work hard to flip the seat blue or keep it from flipping red!

Did you see the article last week from the Seattle Times titled "Washington state Rep. Kim Schrier’s weak primary showing emboldens GOP challenger Jesse Jensen" ([link removed]) ? This shows that we can't assume that Democratic candidates - even in supposedly liberal King County - will definitely win. We need to do the work to keep seats blue.
DATES:
Every September Monday
09/21 - 09/28
TIME:
5:00p - 8:00p
This event will be three hours long, but there's no need to stay for all three hours. Feel free to drop in and pop out at any time.

FIRST TIME PHONEBANKER?
No problem! This is actually a perfect event for a first time phonebanker since we'll be providing all the training you need. The only thing you'll need to bring is your phone (we recommend separate devices for the Zoom call and the device you'll be making calls on). Don't worry about feeling intimidated about talking to strangers - we'll walk you through every step of the way, and you'll find that it's much easier than you think!
Opportunity PAC ([link removed]) is a new PAC that works towards electing 8 incredible Black womxn running for the WA state legislature. These womxn are:
1. Tanisha Harris, 17th Legislative District (House)
2. Joy Pratt Stanford, 26th Legislative District (House)
3. T'wina Nobles, 28th Legislative District (Senate)
4. Rep. Melanie Morgan, 29th Legislative District (Re-Elect for House)
5. Jamila Taylor, 30th Legislative District (House)
6. Kirsten Harris-Talley, 37th Legislative District (House)
7. April Berg, 44th Legislative District (House)
8. Rep. Debra Entenman, 47th Legislative District (Re-Elect for House)

Opportunity PAC is hoping to put together a Voter's Guide that can be easily disseminated through social media while still being informative and persuasive. This guide will have two parts:
1. an informal section to give a quick take on issues affecting communities, like Healthcare, Education, Policing, and COVID-19, and
2. a candidate section to give a background, quick facts, and where the candidate stands in the issues above.

We're looking for volunteers with political research skills (looking up candidates and pulling a couple sentence bio together as well as their stance on issues, researching local issues and cohesively summarizing them) or creative graphic design skills.

If this is work you feel like you would be interested in doing, please either respond to this email or email our Social Action Director Yvette Maganya at [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]?subject=Opportunity%20PAC%20Voter%20Guide%20Volunteer%20Opportunity) directly. Feel free to reach out with questions.
Our general election endorsements meeting is upcoming, so be sure to mark your calendars! Just as with our primary election endorsements meeting, this meeting will be entirely online. More details to come, so please pay attention to our future announcements.
