Almost three years ago to the day, Henry met with President Donald Trump at the White House to tell him directly why the border wall is an ineffective and wasteful use of taxpayer dollars.

Henry successfully fought against border wall funding and recommended that funds be allocated toward technology, infrastructure at points of entry, equipment and border personnel, in order to secure our border in a sensible, cost-effective manner.

In 2018, Henry led the fight against the allocation of $1.6 billion for a border wall in a letter to Senate Leader Chuck Schumer refusing to accept or negotiate any funding in the Homeland Security Appropriations bill for the following year. Each year, Henry stands up time and time again against anyone who calls for funding the border wall.

As a key Democrat serving on the U.S. House Appropriations Committee, Henry recently secured bill language preventing the use of military construction funds to be used to construct a border wall in the next fiscal year.

In a recent op-ed, Henry promised: “As a guardian of property rights, a steward of hard-earned tax dollars, and protector of wildlife and public lands, I will continue to fight against the construction of a wall in my hometown and at our southern border. You and your family deserve no less.”

Since meeting with Trump, Henry has continued to fight for us every step of the way in his commitment to ensure Americans’ hard-earned money does not fund Trump’s failed border wall plan.
