During a February interview with journalist Bob Woodward, President Trump admitted – on tape! – that he was well aware that the coronavirus was very dangerous and difficult to contain.
But a few weeks later, Trump was publicly insisting that COVID-19 would “disappear” in the spring and that it was no more dangerous than the seasonal flu.
He willfully misled the American people. And now 190,000 are dead.
Cleaning up Donald Trump’s malfeasance and mishandling of this pandemic will not be a short or easy path. But here’s what is absolutely clear: We have to get him out of office.
Trump knew COVID-19 was deadly, and he knew it was primarily transmitted through the air. Which means he knew all he had to know to take critical early steps that would have saved hundreds of thousands of lives.
But instead, he chose to fan the flames of disinformation and discontent to preserve his poll numbers ahead of his re-election campaign. His lack of leadership has never been more clearly on display.
