John —

For too long, domestic terrorists have been shielded by pundits and the media who have sugarcoated who they are and what they stand for. As groups of far-right folks armed with deadly weapons descend onto cities like Portland, Oregon, and Kenosha, Wisconsin, we ought to stop giving them a pass and calling them “militia.”

Let’s call it how it is — these people are thugs that are a part of a violent gang. These folks are domestic terrorists looking to incite and inflict deadly violence.

Police have even been on film thanking and giving a pass to this white supremacist violence, like when we saw the Kenosha shooter Kyle Rittenhouse walk by unscathed after his fatal attack. Right-wing domestic terrorists like him are only emboldened when we legitimize their tactics and motives.

Enough is enough. Add your name to our petition to stop calling these violent actors “militia” and start calling them what they are: domestic terrorists.

Thank you, John. We as a society have given a pass to far-right extremists for far too long, and it’s time we begin holding them accountable for their deadly motives.
