The COVID-19 pandemic has heightened anxiety and depression rates and made it challenging for all of us to cope with the uncertainty of quarantine, record-high unemployment rates and increasing stress.
As the Chair of the Veterans’ Affairs Committee in Congress, I also know that our nation’s veterans are especially vulnerable at this time. Which is why I’m reaching out to you on this important day, World Suicide Prevention Day, to ask you to join me to taking action to support our veterans.

With the anniversary of 9/11 approaching tomorrow, this day seems especially poignant. Many of our veterans served in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, two of the longest wars in U.S. history. Right now, every day, 17 veterans commit suicide – a rate that has jumped from 2007 to 2017 and continues to climb during coronavirus. We must take action.
COVID-19 is impacting veterans in big ways. So we must be willing to go the extra mile to support the people who fought for our nation. Sign the pledge to support local veterans now →

We here at Go for Broke for Veterans are dedicated to fighting for our nation’s heroes. Founded by Democratic members of the House’s Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, the goal of Go for Broke for Vets is to fight back against Trump and his allies attempts to undercut the work the committee does to help our vets. Your support is critical to ensuring that we can elect more members of Congress to support our veterans.
