John—
Earlier this week, 20 Republican senators sent a letter riddled with medical disinformation and anti-choice rhetoric to FDA Commissioner Dr. Stephen Hahn, demanding he take one of the pills used for medication abortion completely off the market.
The request is nonsensical. But this letter is just the latest example of how complicit Republicans in the Senate have become in the Radical Right’s campaign to ignore facts and medical science because the facts contradict their authoritarian ideology of control.
The FDA shouldn’t be a politicized agency: Decisions about medication should be based on science and evidence, not ideology. For 20 years, the best science has told us that medication abortion is both safe and effective.
Tell Republicans in the Senate directly: Decisions about pregnancy belong in the hands of pregnant people. Politicians need to stay out of personal decisions and we’re fed up with the lies and medical disinformation the Republican Party is spreading. [[link removed]]
7 in 10 people believe that decisions about pregnancy should be made by pregnant people with the support of the people they trust. But these twenty senators — and every other Republican in the Senate — think their anti-choice ideology, not medical science, should dictate how medications are regulated by the FDA.
Earlier this year, over 20,000 NARAL supporters spoke out in support of lifting medically unnecessary restrictions on medication abortion. And experts agree that the current restrictions on medication abortion are unnecessary — because the medication is safe and effective. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and several former FDA commissioners endorse lifting the restrictions and say that the restrictions obstruct providers’ abilities to deliver the highest quality of patient care.
Rather than listen to the medical experts, Republicans are busy catering to anti-choice extremists, desperate to shore up diving poll numbers. Add your voice:
Tell Senate Republicans you can see through their blatantly partisan attempt to politicize the FDA and put ideology over medical science. Send your message now! [[link removed]]
