Julie Oliver for Congress

Team, I've been thinking about the comments that the president made about those who serve — calling fallen heroes "suckers" and "losers," and denigrating the service of people who have been physically injured.

We know who he is. He has shown us again and again that he has no courage, no character, no loyalty, no patriotism. He just doesn't care.

But this one is really painful. It's extremely hard to accept that this is where we are, that this is who the president is — and that we have a Congressman who is willing to look the other way as he openly mocks people who died in service to this country, .

It's not only painful because I'm the daughter of a veteran and the sister of a brother who died two years ago while serving in the military. But we also have Fort Hood in our district, the largest military installation in the United States.

This district also has one of the largest populations of veterans in the United States. To have such a callousness from those who are in the highest positions of public service  directed at the men and women who served and continue to serve — sacrificing their life, their families, their mental health, and their physical health — is unthinkable.

We deserve so much better. The men and women who serve this country deserve better. If you believe like I do that TX-25 needs a member of Congress who will put their constituents first and fight for the men and women who serve at Ft. Hood, make a contribution to our people-powered campaign today.

Thank you,

Julie
