The Trump campaign and national Republican party leaders are suing Montana and Governor Bullock to make it harder for people to vote by mail.

Let's be clear, as a big, rural state, Montana has a strong history of voting by mail and it is — and has always been — safe and secure. This lawsuit is a clear political stunt.

But this is a sign that we need to redouble our efforts to make sure every single Montanan can safely exercise their right to vote, and every ballot is counted.

No one should have to choose between their Constitutional right to vote and their health during this pandemic.

That's why for the June primary and the general election, Governor Bullock listened to a bipartisan group of local election officials across the state, and gave them the power to expand vote-by-mail in their communities at their own discretion.

It was the right thing to do. But now, Republicans in D.C. want to interfere in our elections and play by a different set of rules.
