John,

I woke up today feeling incredibly grateful.

Thank you, Vermont.

Thank you to everyone who cast a ballot yesterday. Thank you to the election workers who make our democracy possible. Thank you to the volunteers, supporters, neighbors, and community members who keep showing up because you believe our government can be led with courage, kindness, and care for one another.

And thank you for continuing to trust me to represent this extraordinary state in Congress.

I never, ever take that responsibility for granted.

One of the things I love most about Vermont is that we understand democracy is something we do together.

It happens when we vote. It happens when someone steps forward and puts their name on a ballot. It happens at town meeting, around kitchen tables, at community events, and in conversations between neighbors who may not agree on everything but still care deeply about this beautiful place we call home.

I am also grateful to every Vermonter who was willing to step forward and run for office this year. Putting yourself out there and asking your neighbors for their trust takes courage, and our democracy is stronger when more people are willing to serve.

Now, the primary is behind us, and there is plenty of work ahead.

Families across Vermont are still feeling squeezed by the cost of housing, healthcare, groceries, and everyday life. Vermonters are worried about Social Security and Medicare, about their rights and freedoms, and about whether Washington is actually listening to the people it is supposed to serve.

Those are the things I am thinking about today. Those are the people I am thinking about today. And that is the work I am heading back to.

You know me. I’m going to keep fighting to lower costs, protect the programs Vermonters depend on, defend our freedoms, and make sure Vermont’s voice is heard loud and clear in DC.

But today, more than anything, I just wanted to say thank you.

Serving you is the honor of my life.

With enormous gratitude,

— Becca
