HHSC RECEIVES FEDERAL APPROVAL FOR SNAP BENEFIT REPLACEMENTS DUE TO HURRICANE LAURA

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) has received federal approval to allow Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients to apply over the phone for replacement benefits that were lost or destroyed due to Hurricane Laura.

Thank you to our federal partners for approving this request quickly and for their ongoing collaboration as we work together to rebuild Southeast Texas.

SAN ANTONIO SHELTERED MORE THAN 4,500 HURRICANE LAURA EVACUEES

Thank you to San Antonio and other communities across Texas for helping thousands of evacuees from Louisiana that were in the path of Hurricane Laura.

The Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) is coordinating with local authorities and other state agencies to ensure Texans are ready and able to rebuild.



TEXAS COLLEGE STUDENTS FORM ALLIANCE TO COMBAT SPREAD OF COVID-19

Students from 20 Texas colleges and universities launched the College Health Alliance of Texas, a public health initiative that aims to combat the spread of COVID-19 on campuses.

Working together, we will continue to mitigate the spread of this virus in the Lone Star State.



EXTENDING EMERGENCY SNAP BENEFITS FOR TEXANS THROUGH SEPTEMBER

The State of Texas has extended emergency SNAP food benefits for Texans in need through the month of September as the state continues to respond to and combat COVID-19.

This extension will help Texans provide healthy food for their families, especially as they return to school.

TEXAS SUES HARRIS COUNTY TO STOP IT FROM SENDING ALL VOTERS APPLICATIONS FOR MAIL-IN BALLOTS

The State of Texas is suing Harris County for sending all voters applications for mail in ballots.

By law, only qualified voters who ask for mail in ballots can receive them.

Harris County's scheme can lead to voter fraud and comprise election results. Texas will not stand for an abuse of voter rights or tampering in elections.
