Hi John,
The general election is just two months away -- here’s what that means for our organization.
It means we only have two more months to advocate for legislation to protect voting rights and ensure every American is heard in November.
It means we only have two more months to inform citizens about where their representatives stand on key issues with educational tools like our Congressional Scorecard, which displays voting data on bills crucial to secular and nontheistic Americans.
It means we only have two more months to increase our visibility, grow our clout, and change the trajectory of our nation.
We know this year gives us a critical opening. A poll taken during the 2018 midterms showed that 88% of respondents would vote for nonreligious candidates who share their policy goals. That number is likely even higher today.
But the public’s readiness for secular representatives will mean nothing if we don’t keep Americans informed of the stakes of this election -- as well as ramp up our fight against the concerted voter suppression tactics the Christian nationalists in our government are counting on to keep their power.
We’ve seen millions of dollars spent on voter suppression this year alone. If we want to respond with voter education and voter empowerment, we need a budget to match.
Right now, we’re $2,576 short of our Get Out the Vote fundraising goal.
If you want to amplify your own voice this election, this your chance. Please, chip in whatever you can now. You’ll grow our reach, create a more informed and involved electorate, and make the most of our one opportunity to fight for a government based on facts, reason, and compassion. ([link removed])
