John --
Labor Day means cookouts, family, parks, beaches and a day of rest for many American families. As we reflect on the labor movement we can see how far we’ve come since the Industrial Revolution, but we are also reminded that we haven’t come far enough.
We still have a long way to go to realize true labor empowerment, freedom and economic justice. The fight continues!
Far too many Americans are working without fair pay and benefits. Far too many are tied to jobs due to the limitations of privatized health insurance. Far too many are working two or more jobs just to put food on their tables.
When our candidates become representatives they will pass legislation to:
- End right-to-work legislation
- Support tuition-free trade schools, community colleges and state universities
- Support paid-family leave
- Support subsidized early childhood care, before and after school care and pre-K for all children
- Support a federal jobs guarantee
- Support a guaranteed living wage
- Create laws to protect workers’ rights to unionize, organize and strike
- Support immigration laws that protect migrant workers’ rights
- Support Medicare for All and guarantee quality healthcare for all
- Abolish legalized prison slavery set forth in the 13th Amendment
- Supporting equal pay for equal work laws
- Support the Green New Deal and resolutions that address job growth in the face of rising automation
A modern labor revolution is in full swing and Americans are ready for change. For far too long we’ve had a Congress that has actively chipped away at workers’ rights by passing legislation that protects corporations over the rights of workers. Can you contribute today to help seat representatives who will stand up and protect workers?
