leaving Dem run states in the dust

Welcome to another edition of FT Now! What a week it’s been. We know you’re probably covered on the news that came out of the Republican National Convention, so let’s get down to some updates from around the country. First up: a new study shows that states with GOP governors are doing far better than Democrat-led states - even with the COVID-19 pandemic. South Dakota Governor (and mom of three) Kristi Noem talked about the violence we’re seeing around the country during an interview on Fox News (hint: she had some choice words for those Democrat-led cities). Last but not least, remember when you thought Nancy Pelosi couldn’t become any more unhinged? Yeah, those days are over… Read below to find out why.

States Led By Republican Governors Have Brightest Economic Outlook
What Happened:
A recently-released study found that even with the COVID-19 crisis, 8 out of the top 10 states with the best economic outlooks are led by GOP governors. What’s more, 9 out of the 10 worst states are led by Democrat governors. Yikes.
Why You Should Care:
The study looked at things like tax rates and regulatory climates to gauge each state’s economic health. It just goes to show that policies do have real-world consequences, and governors who stick to fiscal responsibility and pro-growth principles are doing right by their constituents.
What Happens Next:
Republican-led states continue to thrive. Democrat-led states? Well...we’ll have to wait and see.

Kristi Noem: No Mother Wants To Raise Her Child On Violent Streets of Democratic-Led Cities
What Happened:
South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem went on Fox News this week and had some words to say about the violence we’ve been seeing in American cities. "There is no mother in this country that wants to raise her children on the streets of Portland, Seattle, or Washington," said Noem. She continued: "I think what’s incredibly important is that mothers get up every single day and look at the life they want for their children and their grandchildren in the future and it is not found in these Democrat-led cities."
Why You Should Care:
There’s a stark contrast between the right and the left when it comes to condemning violence. But Gov. Noem’s question is worth asking: What kind of city and community do you want to live in?
What Happens Next:
We see if Democrat leaders step up and get control of their cities.

Pelosi Calls Trump, GOP Lawmakers "Domestic Enemies," "Enemies of the State"
What Happened:
Just when you thought Nancy Pelosi couldn’t become any more unhinged, this week she went on MSNBC and called Republicans "domestic enemies" because they don’t agree with her on mail-in voting.
Why You Should Care:
The left likes to cry wolf over ‘rhetoric" all the time - but apparently they don’t care when it’s coming from their own side.
What Happens Next:
Pelosi will never change, but hopefully the American people will see her faux outrage for what it is: just another hypocritical attack.
