Folks – I wrote to you last week about the hope I felt hearing Joe Biden speak at the Democratic National Convention and the joy that Kamala Harris brought to the ticket.

Let me tell you, hope and joy were not what I was getting from a week of watching the Republican National Convention.

A blatant refusal to take responsibility for the many crises occurring under Donald Trump’s watch. Fear mongering. Blame. Anger. Mistruths and obfuscation. And ethics violation after ethics violation as government staff, Trump appointees, and Trump himself delivered campaign speeches from the White House.

Democrats stand for a more inclusive, just, equitable America – while Republicans are hellbent on stoking the flames of division and hatred in our country for political gain.

Democrats have a plan to increase access to healthcare for all, build back our economy, and get the COVID-19 crisis under control once and for all. Republicans continue to insist that Trump will magically fix it all – despite coming to their convention with no written party platform.

Democrats see the potential of our diverse nation and the incredible opportunities the future holds if we fight for it, together. Republicans want to drag us backward through fear and exclusion.

To me, the choice is simple. But we won’t be able to win in November without the support of this grassroots team. And I’ll be honest: It makes me nervous that Republicans get the last word here.
