URGENT: The Assembly VOTES tomorrow, perhaps 10:30 or 11 am, on SB 1120. It's item No. 39 on the official agenda.

LITTLE TIME left to call and write assembly members. Please DO THIS NOW:

  • Call your assembly member NOW, whatever the time! Leave a msg citing the fatal flaws of SB 1120. Call YOUR ASSEMBLY MEMBER HERE. (See talking points below.)
  • Email all an easy OPPOSE SB 1120 LETTER HERE to all Assembly members. If it kicks back it's OK. They get the message!
  • Also call assembly members in your nearby region! A YES vote by them harms YOUR street as much as it harms their own constituents.

If we lose in the Assembly, we have a BIG JOB turning the senate against this bill, authored by the senate boss, Toni Atkins, known for punishing those who disobey.

We will update you once we see what happens in the Assembly!

You've all done so much! The Assembly cancelled its vote Tues. due to YOUR outcry! Atkins and her sidekick Scott Wiener didn't have the votes! They spent 2 days twisting arms.

We must stop SB 1120 from getting to the Senate. This could become the first legislature in US history to deliver 7.4 million single-family homes directly over to luxury density developers — crushing neighborhoods during a pandemic and economic crisis.

Behind it all: Scott Wiener, swimming in more developer money than any legislator in California, and Toni Atkins, married to a developer.

We hope that your communities, from poor to well-off and between, family places with trees and yards, are not destroyed by the 2020 California Legislature.

Good luck! Now get on your phones and laptops! Share our FB updates tomorrow about SB 1120. Please donate to Livable California!

Talking Points Against SB 1120:

  • Legislators must not seem to be rushing dramatic societal change under cover of COVID-19.
  • Threatens historic Black and Latino homeowner communities with devastation by developers.
  • McKinsey claim that California needs 3.5M housing units has been debunked, and Gov. Newsom has walked away from the false figure. The need is 1.2M, reached without upheaval!
  • Our need is low-income units. Market rate units far exceed demand in California! Enough!
  • Legislators must not rush a luxury developer bill during a crisis for low-income families.
  • Working-class homeowners earned their path to middle-class. SB 1120 upends this victory.
