This is both an exciting and difficult time to get involved in politics. It seems that in every election we are told it's the most important vote of our lives, but this November may well prove to be of such epochal significance. If Donald Trump is reelected, it is a sure bet nothing will be done to address the twin plagues we confront: the cornanvirus pandemic, which has already taken the lives of nearly 180,000 Americans, and systemic racism, which stole another Black life in Kenosha, WI, this week. Nothing will be done to help the tens of millions of unemployed Americans who will struggle to pay rent and retain health coverage. Worst of all, whatever he does in his second term is certain to be more of the same: racism, nepotism, corruption, incompetence, and the shattering of institutional and legal norms that were supposed to protect us from people like Donald Trump.
We can't let this happen.
BYD is doing its part to elect progressive Democrats at the national and local level. We are so proud of the history we helped make in the June Democratic primaries this year. Now is the time to make sure Democrats in contested districts cross the finish line along with Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Last week, we committed to reelecting Rep. Max Rose and State Senator Andrew Gounardes in November.

Finally, you may have heard we recently launched a new Policy Committee. Headed by DeShaun Mars, the Policy Committee will discuss issues important to young people in Brooklyn and drive the policy direction of the Brooklyn Young Democrats.
