Meet Tabreez Verjee (in his own words)
Greetings everyone! I’m ethnically Indian with a family from East Africa and a Persian name. I grew up first in Brazil and then moved around various cities in the Midwest before settling in the bay area before college.

I’ve always seen money and business as energy to create and serve a future where all beings can thrive and be fulfilled. I love having the backs of amazing humans who are master artisans and builders of this kind of future. I’ve become increasingly fascinated with the relationship between our inner world and what we manifest in the world around us. Right now, I find myself in a moment of tuning into what life and love wants expressed through me and through small groups of beloved dedicated friends like the crew at JumpScale.

I’m an explorer, a dad, a husband, a friend, and a three-time entrepreneur and VC investor. We co-founded Uprising to invest in and radically support gifted technology entrepreneurs who see their companies as vehicles to serve the whole. I’m particularly drawn to heart centered, embodied leaders with “goosebumpy” missions that not only address big problems and the systems that created them, but who also understand the significance of simultaneously transmuting the stories, culture, and consciousness from which those systems arise.

Some of the many real life superheroes we have backed include the teams behind Lyft, Calm, Devoted Health, Braintrust, Andela, ClassDojo, Long Term Stock Exchange (LTSE), Virta Health, Good Eggs, Landit, SV Academy, Forever Oceans, Change.org and Heartflow. I was also lucky to be a founding board member and funder at Kiva.org where I served for 11 years. The Uprising Crew has also helped catalyze a number of other initiatives including breakthrough treatments for Autism and Type I Diabetes, the Palo Alto Longevity Prize, and funding for several ground breaking non-profits like Watsi.org and CareMessage.

Daniel Roth (General Partner & Founder, JumpScale) is an experienced social entrepreneur, movement strategist, and integrative healthcare professional focused on sustainable development, indigenous cultural revitalization, and healing arts. Learn more about Daniel here ([link removed]) .
Josh Knauer (General Partner & Founder, JumpScale) has been a social entrepreneur, technologist and speaker/lecturer for the past 25 years, creating and leading successful organizations in both the non-profit and for-profit sectors. His ability to spot emerging trends in technology and how they can be used for the betterment of society and the environment have caused him to be considered a leading expert in the field. Josh has raised over $12 million from investors and has successfully sold two of his startups to public companies. Learn more about Josh here ([link removed]) .
