Dear friends,

Last week, I joined members of our Human Resources staff at Wesley House to volunteer for their weekly resources pantry.

We unloaded trucks, stocked shelves and filled bags for neighbors.

Volunteering is fulfilling work that improves our mental, physical and spiritual health. Which is why, starting July 1, City employees will have a new benefit called Day of Service.

Employees will be able to sign up for up to 8 hours a year of volunteer service at approved non-profits. Once approved, employees can take those hours as paid volunteer leave on their time-card.

Serving residents is at the heart of public service and local government. I'm excited we are able to offer this new Day of Service benefit to City employees.
