Here’s what candidates have said so far… The right of a woman to make her own decisions about her reproductive health is an American freedom. And as president, I will be ready to not only protect that right but work to proactively expand reproductive health care. - Mayor Pete Buttigieg We need to codify Roe v. Wade into federal law, only appoint judges who will uphold the protections of Roe, and eliminate the Hyde Amendment. To be a fairer nation, we have to protect the freedom to have an abortion. - Julián Castro, Former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development When I'm president, I'm going to require that states must clear their laws about abortion with the DOJ, and they must pass constitutional muster. Until it's cleared, it cannot go into effect. Clearly, we need some oversight. -Senator Kamala Harris. We are facing a well-funded, extremist attack on a woman’s right to control her own body. But I am absolutely confident that we are going to win this struggle. This country is about freedom. - Senator Bernie Sanders Reproductive freedom is a winning issue — and for 2020, being pro-choice is the floor, not the ceiling, for our eventual nominee. By investing and organizing in early states like Iowa, South Carolina, Nevada, and New Hampshire, NARAL members are ensuring that reproductive freedom is at the forefront of candidates’ minds — and policy platforms — going into the primaries.
