Sunday, August 23, 2020 Chairman’s Report Dear John, While the main attraction - the Republican National Convention - is kicking off this week, we just witnessed one of the most uninspiring Democratic conventions in recent memory. It was terrible -- a total flop, with some comparing it to a bad telethon. Much of their rhetoric was hateful, racist and divisive, and with all of the lies being spread there is no wonder that the American people aren’t buying in. “Sleepy Joe” Biden received praise for reading off of a teleprompter, but I was truly appalled at the dishonesty of Governor Cuomo’s speech. He trashed the President's response to the coronavirus, but he seems to have forgotten that he profusely thanked President Trump for all that he did to deliver for NY. President Trump sent the USS Comfort up the coast to the NY Harbor with great fanfare. Make-shift hospitals were built and the Governor didn’t use them. The President delivered thousands of beds, but they sat empty. Instead Cuomo forced our nursing homes to take in COVID-infected patients, exposing our most vulnerable population to the virus that resulted in over 6,600 deaths that have been counted, but in all likelihood over 12,000 deaths. And as Governor Cuomo spreads his lies in an effort to make it in the national spotlight, he announced he is writing a book. What leader takes the time during a crisis to pen their own memoir on their great leadership? There is a real, clear contrast between Andrew Cuomo, his deceitful leadership and constant craving of attention, and our guest on this week’s video town hall, Congressman Lee Zeldin. Lee is one of the brightest shining Republican stars in the nation, not just here in New York. Since entering Congress in 2015, Lee has pursued an aggressive agenda in Washington, D.C., quickly becoming one of the nation’s leading proponents for a stronger, more effective foreign policy that defeats ISIS and other terrorist threats, secures our homeland, and treats our nation’s friends as our friends, and our adversaries as our adversaries.
