Drizly Group closes $50 million of funding

Online alcohol marketplace Drizly Group has closed a $50 million Series C funding. The investment comes as Boston-based Drizly has marked growth of more than 350% in 2020 compared with the prior year. “We’ve spent years methodically building the three-tier compliant e-commerce foundation for the alcohol category – a place where consumers love to shop and that retailers and brands now deem critical to their e-commerce growth strategies,” said Drizly Group CEO Cory Rellas.

Airbnb bans house parties

Airbnb announced its “Global Party Ban” at its listings worldwide for the “best interest of public health." It is cracking down more on unauthorized gatherings that guests host at listings and occupancy will be limited to 16 people. Even before the pandemic, unauthorized parties have been prohibited at Airbnb rentals, and the company said 73% of its listings worldwide already explicitly ban parties in their house rules.

Researchers may have discovered a hangover cure

A group of Finnish researchers believe they’ve discovered a cure for hangovers. In a study published this week, researchers from the University of Helsinki and the University of Eastern Finland found amino acid L-cysteine relieved alcohol-reduced ailments such as nausea, headache and stress and anxiety.
