John -- No doubt, we have some shameful history. The infamous three-fifths clause reduced entire populations of people to a fraction. It took a civil war and centuries of unrest to completely undo the founding fathers’ horrifying attempt to preserve white supremacy.

Apparently, not everyone learned that reducing people to fractions is a sinister, despicable approach to governance: West Virginia Governor Jim Justice recently toed the party line by announcing Covid-19 outbreaks in nursing homes and correctional facilities will only count as ONE new case - even if dozens or hundreds of people are infected! Gov. Justice originally stated that each infected staff would count as half a person, before outrage forced him to walk that back.

John, everyone counts. Support our PEOPLE-FOCUSED campaign right now. [[link removed]]

This evil is compounded by our nation’s systemic racism and disregard for the most vulnerable in our society. People of color are disproportionately unfairly incarcerated, and nursing homes and jails are common dumping grounds for already-marginalized populations. We’re looking at disenfranchisement on a whole new level - one that says their lives don’t matter.

They matter to ME. The PEOPLE, not profits or parties, will be my only boss in the Senate. Can you chip in $15 right now to help us put the people in charge? [[link removed]]

This is party politics at its most disgusting. In an effort to stay in power, the GOP is literally playing with people’s lives by downplaying a devastating public health crisis and jeopardizing our ability to fully understand and respond to it.

Meanwhile, legislation passed to contain the virus by decreasing incarceration in West Virginia has gone nowhere and more than half our jail population is composed of unconvicted, pre-trial defendants or those who can’t afford bail. Regardless of their situations, every life counts , and Americans deserve to know the full extent of Covid’s threat.

John, I would NEVER reduce people to fractions. Please support humane governance by chipping in $10, $15, $20, or whatever you can. [[link removed]]

We deserve better than these party hacks who are actively working against and demeaning everyday Americans. Will you stand with me today and demand better?
